- Lug width is the gap between the lugs in millimetres — common sizes are 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22mm.
- Spring bars: standard tips are ø1.5mm/ø1.78mm; dive and tool watches often use ø2.0mm "fat bars". Curved bars are needed on some integrated-bracelet cases.
- Taper (e.g. 20→16mm) describes the width at the lugs versus the width at the buckle.
- Quick-release spring bars have a small lever or pin on the underside — check for it before assuming a strap needs tools to fit.
